Amazon Q includes security and deployment-risk checks
Amazon Q Developer’s code review documentation covers recent changes, files, and projects. It combines generative AI with rule-based analysis and automated reasoning for checks including security, secrets, infrastructure as code, and deployment risk.
The same documentation announces the end of support for Amazon Q Developer IDE plugins on April 30, 2027 and directs users toward Kiro. That notice concerns the IDE plugins; it should not be read as the end of every Amazon Q service.
Amazon Q and Proofline side by side
Documented workflows and the evidence to inspect. Custom tools and configuration can change what a review can access.
Scroll the table horizontally to compare both products.
| Compare | Amazon Q | Proofline |
|---|---|---|
| Review location | IDE reviews of changes, files, or projects, including automatic review as you type. | GitHub review and an environment assessment tied to a pinned code input. |
| Deployment checks | Deployment-risk and infrastructure-as-code analysis are documented capabilities. | A deployment finding requires recorded evidence about the selected environment and affected resources. |
| Adoption planning | Check the published IDE plugin support timeline and your intended successor workflow. | Check repository support, connector read scope, and access requirements before onboarding. |
How Proofline investigates changes explains its code and environment inputs. Check connector coverage before assuming that an assessment can observe a resource.
A function is moved into a VPC
Imagine a Lambda configuration change that attaches the function to VPC subnets. The function still needs to call an external API during request handling.
The consequence depends on the subnets’ routes and the function’s applicable network rules. The VPC attachment alone does not establish whether the external call will succeed or fail.
Try this illustrative configuration change with the review tools you intend to use. Inspect the network path cited by each finding and whether the evidence belongs to the selected deployment environment.
Compare the actual deployment-risk evidence
Choose the AWS development workflow that fits your IDE and support requirements. Evaluate Proofline when reviewers need a retained assessment connecting a proposed revision to the target infrastructure.
Do not frame this as deployment analysis versus no deployment analysis. Instead, compare the supported failure mechanism, the source of each infrastructure fact, and how the review handles missing observations.
Questions about Amazon Q and Proofline
Does Amazon Q analyze deployment risks?
Yes. AWS explicitly includes deployment-risk and infrastructure-as-code checks in the code review documentation.
What does the April 2027 notice cover?
AWS names the Amazon Q Developer IDE plugins. Check the linked AWS documentation when planning an IDE transition; the notice does not establish the retirement of all Amazon Q services.
Try a change from your own repository
Connect a GitHub repository and its deployment environment, then inspect the evidence behind the findings. Missing evidence stays visible; a review without findings does not establish deployment success.
