Proofline vs Claude Code Review

Claude Code Review uses several agents to investigate a pull request and verify findings. Proofline focuses its environment assessment on the relationship between a pinned change and recorded infrastructure configuration.

Claude’s hosted review investigates and verifies findings

Claude Code Review is a hosted GitHub review service for Team and Enterprise plans. Agents read the change and surrounding code; a verification step checks candidate findings before the service publishes feedback.

The service uses REVIEW.md and CLAUDE.md guidance. It leaves review feedback and a check run, while the human reviewer retains the approval and merge decision.

How Proofline investigates changes explains its code and environment inputs. Check connector coverage before assuming that an assessment can observe a resource.

A backfill and a schema change ship in the wrong order

Suppose a pull request makes a column non-null and adds a backfill job. Both code paths are present, and their tests pass independently.

The release order determines whether existing rows satisfy the constraint before it is applied. An assessment needs the migration behavior, the release steps, and the target database configuration available to the review.

Try an illustrative rollout in which those operations run in the opposite order from the author’s assumption. Examine how each review establishes the order and reports information it cannot verify. Do not infer a production failure from a hypothetical ordering alone.

Compare verified findings and release assumptions

Choose Claude Code Review when you want the hosted multi-agent review workflow and repository guidance. Evaluate Proofline when your release review needs a recorded connection between code, deployment steps, and the target infrastructure.

Inspect the verification behind a warning. A plausible code defect, an executed experiment, and a claim about the current deployment are different pieces of evidence; a reviewer should explain how they support the conclusion.

Questions about Claude Code Review and Proofline

Is this the same as the local /code-review command?

No. This page compares Anthropic’s hosted Code Review service. Local Claude Code commands and custom CI workflows have their own tools, access, and configuration.

Does an AI reviewer decide whether Proofline merges code?

No. Merge authority belongs to a person or an administrator’s versioned deterministic rule. Model output does not authorize a merge.

Try a change from your own repository

Connect a GitHub repository and its deployment environment, then inspect the evidence behind the findings. Missing evidence stays visible; a review without findings does not establish deployment success.
