What CodeRabbit reviews
CodeRabbit reviews pull requests and suggests fixes. Developers can also request reviews from their editor or command line. Its platform includes tools for prioritizing pull requests and reviewing security issues.
CodeRabbit uses a code graph, review history, and business requirements to interpret changes. This codebase and team context helps it review code against your engineering standards.
What Proofline checks
Proofline reviews an exact code revision against a recorded snapshot of the environment you select. It investigates failures that depend on infrastructure facts, such as a database limit or a workload’s permissions.
A finding explains how the change can fail, cites the supporting evidence, and suggests a fix. If the environment assessment is unavailable, the review remains incomplete. Read how Proofline reviews a change.
Scaling an API beyond its database limit
In this illustrative example, a change increases an API service from four tasks to twelve. Each task opens 20 database connections before passing its health check.
The new deployment needs 240 connections. The target database allows 197 application connections after reserved connections are excluded. Some tasks can fail their health checks because they cannot establish their connections.
The task count and pool size establish demand. The database configuration establishes the limit. A finding needs both to explain why this deployment can stall.
Reducing the task count or pool size lowers demand. A connection pooler can also reduce the connections held at the database. Read the simulated review comment.
When to use each tool
Choose CodeRabbit for assistance with routine code review and team standards. Add Proofline when you also need to check a change against its deployment environment. Both can contribute findings to the same pull request.
For a capacity change, inspect whether the review identifies the target database and cites its limit. Check what the result says when that evidence is unavailable.
This comparison uses published product documentation. The example illustrates the evidence a review needs; it is not a head-to-head test.
