What Qodo reviews
Qodo’s cross-repository review considers dependencies between repositories, including downstream consumers affected by a change.
Its context engine uses code, pull request history, business requirements, and engineering rules. The platform also tracks findings and quality decisions across teams.
What Proofline checks
Proofline reviews an exact code revision against recorded facts about the target environment. Deployment evidence helps establish which service version and configuration that environment uses.
Those facts matter when repositories deploy independently. Updated code in a repository can coexist with an older service in production. Proofline investigates whether the proposed change can break that deployed service. Read how a review works.
A column rename breaks an older API
In this illustrative migration, orders.status is renamed to state. The new application code reads state. An older API deployed in production still queries status.
Repository analysis can identify code that uses the old column. To assess this rollout, the reviewer also needs evidence that the older API remains deployed when the migration runs.
If the migration runs first, the older API can query a column that no longer exists. An expand-and-contract migration preserves compatibility: add the new column, transition consumers, then remove the old column after they stop using it.
The deployment sequence determines when the incompatible code and schema meet. Read the simulated migration review.
When to check repository and deployment state
Choose Qodo when your review process needs shared rules and context across repositories. Add Proofline when you also need to assess changes against supported infrastructure and deployment records.
Use a migration with independently deployed consumers to evaluate the workflow. Check which consumers the review identifies and what evidence supports its statements about deployed versions. Unavailable deployment evidence should remain an explicit gap.
This comparison uses published product descriptions. The migration illustrates a rollout risk; it does not report how Qodo performs on a particular pull request.
