Group related repositories

A repository cluster records which repositories change together and the role each one plays. Use it for a service and its shared package, or an API and its clients.

Only organization administrators can create, edit, or archive clusters.

Create a cluster#

  1. Open Organization → Repository clusters.
  2. Select New cluster.
  3. Enter a Name.
  4. Use Add a repository to find and add each member. Show all repositories opens the available list.
  5. Choose each repository's role.
  6. Select Create cluster.

Choose Provider for a repository that supplies an interface, schema, or package. Choose Consumer for a repository that uses it. Use Peer when repositories change together without a provider and consumer relationship.

For example, a shared schema package is a provider and a service importing that package is a consumer.

Use a suggested cluster#

When Suggest a cluster is available on the new-cluster form, select it to request a proposal from source configuration. Answer any follow-up question.

Read the proposed members and roles. Open Why these repositories? to inspect the reasons, uncertainty, and source links. Use suggestion fills the form; it does not save the cluster. Adjust the draft, then select Create cluster.

You can keep editing while suggestions run. Review the form again before applying a result that replaces your draft.

Change or archive a cluster#

Open a cluster and select Edit. Change its name, members, or roles, then select Save cluster.

If another person saves a change first, select Reload cluster to load the current revision. Reloading discards your unsaved edits.

An unavailable repository cannot be saved as a member. Restore its access or remove it from the draft before saving.

Select History to inspect earlier revisions. Archive asks you to confirm Archive cluster. Archiving removes the current membership and preserves the earlier revisions. An archived cluster cannot be edited.
